WE DID IT! A successful live event for our 40th Anniversary

    Thank you!

On behalf of the race staff, thousand volunteers and myself, thank you for being a part of our 40th Anniversary event.  We worked very hard to bring back our event live, the way you wanted it and we are so happy to have done so safely and with some of the best results in our history.  Based on the feedback received, we are thrilled to know that you not only appreciated our event but also discovered a great alternative to mega-large events or small events that cannot celebrate your accomplishments like we can.  We strive to put on a world-class event and you’ve told us we met our goal again.

    The October 3, 2021 event:

    • Had registrations from 46 states and 6 countries (approx. 2750 registered)
    • Had multiple entries into our all-time fastest records in Male, Female, Masters and Grandmasters categories
    • Had registrations opening at only $70 for the full marathon
    • Had 110 teams participate in our “throwback” 2-person relay event
    • Had a successful 5k and kids run

We are thrilled to have received your praise, thanks and stories.  We also cannot wait to start planning for 2022 so we can provide a new opportunity for you.  Share the word that we will be opening registration in January 2022.  Thank you for 40 years of support!

    To another 40 years!

This was my first marathon and I couldn’t have chosen a better event. The organization of the race, the volunteers, and the community support. I can’t wait to run it again in 2020.

     Note from the R.D.

What are you doing next weekend, October 2-3?  I know I will be running too!  Running “around” that is!  While you begin your 26.2 mile journey me and our team will be still working on making sure that the details of our race are taken care of so well that you don’t even think twice about the amount of work it takes to put on such a large event.  it takes so many volunteers to help our dedicated volunteer staff and while I cannot personally thank all of them, I will reach out to them with a sense of appreciation.  I hope you will do the same.  There are 4 team members: Tom Buthod, Barb Drees, Wendy Wiesjahn and David Finch, who have worked tirelessly leading about 50 Captains who oversee the hundreds, approaching a thousand helping souls who make the Lakefront Marathon happen.  Thank you so much for allowing me to help lead this amazing opportunity for our runners coming from around the world and our community.

As we approach a weekend of activity culminating with a celebration after your race, I hope the excitement grows, your smile grows larger and your appreciation for having the opportunity is evident.

We missed you last year and we cannot wait to greet you in person very soon!

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary with a new logo

When asked to paint a picture at age 10, most of us would be excited just to have someone guess what the picture is. At age 10, Kinsley Kohls was attracting the attention of accomplished artists and since then has blossomed into an artist that conceptualizes exactly what the finished product will look like and then sets out to do it.
