RACE UPDATES: We want you to be aware of our progress!
December 7, 2022
In mid-November 2021, the race staff of the Lakefront Marathon were informed that the course we enjoyed for 41 years needed to change due to major road construction projects over the next several years. We immediately started looking for alternatives and presented several options for review and discussions. Milwaukee has some unique geographical and population challenges for creating a fun, safe and enjoyable route while minimizing the disruptions to residents and businesses. We finally settled on a plan and came to realize that our efforts were going to be a little short. Even though the City graciously offered to assist us in putting the event on, our staff takes great pride in making certain that we are fully prepared. We made the decision to cancel our October 2 event. Since that agonizing time, we have been working hard on continuing where we left off and we are excited at the prospect of providing something we believe to be even better than what we had hoped. The City, the business community and of course our staff and volunteers are all coming together to help finalize the plans and make certain that we have a world-class event that we are all proud of for many years to come. We will not be opening registration until we are convinced that we can welcome you to the City and give you the show you deserve. Mark your calendars for October 1, 2023
