Course Information

The Lakefront Marathon is a USATF certified course starting at Grafton High School. This flat and scenic point-to-point course travels south through rural countryside, quiet neighborhoods and finishes along the shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee. The Lakefront Marathon has been a Boston Marathon qualifying course for 38 years…soon to be 39!

NOTE: For those of you who are overly concerned about the map showing over 26.2 miles, please know that this is an “online tool” ONLY.  Our course has been expertly measured according to USATF sanctioning requirements by a certified expert who has not mis-measured a course in over 35 years.  At the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon you will run a marathon distance.

Water Stops and Porta Potties

Each aid station will have water, Lemon-lime Endurance Formula Gatorade, and portable toilets. GU brand gels (Tri-berry and Salted Caramel)  will be available on the course at approximately miles 7.5 and 19.5. Water stops are located approximately every two miles.

Runner Tracking

The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon is pleased to offer LIVE race tracking available to all athletes at no charge.  Runners must carry their GPS enabled phone for spectators to be able to locate you on the course. Download the app. (CLICK THE LOGO above) and track all your athletes once bib numbers are given out.

In addition, we will ALSO have the tradional mat timing that will send text messages to those tracking you. Instructions for how to sign up will be given to athletes a couple days prior to the race.
