Charity Runners

We know that many of our runners make the race even more meaningful by running to benefit a charity.  We’d like to give all of you running for a charity the opportunity to tell us and your fellow runners about your charity commitment and what it means to you.  Just send an e-mail to lakefrontmarathon@sbcglobal.net and tell us about your charity, provide a link to their website and/or your special fund-raising page, and tell us why this is special to you.  We will post these on this Charity Page.

Run the Lakefront Marathon in support of Project ADAM!

I am creating a group to run the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee, WI on October 3rd 2010 to raise money for Project ADAM in memory of Karen Smith. There are 2 options for those who want to run: full marathon or a three person relay. Event registration is already open and will probably sell out sometime in early March.

Donations can be made online at
http://www.firstgiving.com/lakefrontmarathon

Project ADAM (Automated Defibrillators in Adam's Memory) is a not-for-profit program of Herma Heart Center at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (www.projectadam.com). The mission of the program is to serve children and adolescents through education and deployment of life-saving programs that help prevent sudden cardiac arrest. The project was started after my brother, Adam, passed away during a basketball game at Grafton High School due to a cardiac arrest.

Karen Smith was a passionate supporter of Project ADAM who worked tirelessly to ensure its success. A wonderful person who touched the lives of many, she passed away at the end of January.
